The famous DJ Khaled “another one” soundbite would’ve made for an incredible mixtape DJ drop, right? Just imagine—Khaled’s flooding his tape with heat, and every time he plays a new song or mixes in an exclusive freestyle, you hear, “Another one.” Yeah, perfect.

But let’s rewind back to the late ‘90s when Khaled wasn’t a household name and self-generating meme factory just yet. The multi-platinum, Miami-bred producer was still on the come-up, making his presence felt amongst the New York greats of the time, and doing it the best way he knew how—behind the turntables.

On the Terrorist Activity tape, Khaled and his Brooklyn-based cohort Tony Touch each take a side and bless the streets with well-executed mixes that are flooded with new music. And for those that may have slept on Khaled’s skills on the 1s and 2s, it’s clear from one listen to Side B that Khaled’s known how to get busy since way back in the day. And that infectious energy was always there, too.

Plus, there’s no shortage of exclusives on the Khaled side of things, as he was able to get custom-made freestyles for the tape by New York giants KRS-One, N.O.R.E., and Fat Joe, his Terror Squad compadre who proclaims at the end of his verse, “South Bronx to South Beach, we keep it real on the streets.”

As for Tony Toca, well, he hops into his bag from the jump on Side A, setting off the tape with a freestyle of his own to introduce the New York/Miami tag team, then continues with plenty of fuego to easily occupy 45 minutes of space. Yo, that Kool G Rap story joint “One Dark Night” was that shit! And that’s just one example—there’s plenty more by D.I.T.C., Mobb Deep, Memphis Bleek, Black Star, McGruff & Foxy Brown, and the list goes on.
