Most Crew - 43
A rare cassette laced with early '90s classics, plus Fab 5 Freddy remembers the legendary Uptown mixtape crew.
As we went on the journey of putting together Do Remember!, there was a name that kept coming up in conversations with a couple folks that we were fairly unfamiliar with—the Most Crew. And because of this, we grew more and more curious about them.
Turns out that even throughout the vast depths of the Internet—where many hip-hop gems have been preserved over time—there is next to nothing about the Most Crew. So we went right to the source to get a history lesson—Fab 5 Freddy.
The iconic host of Yo! MTV Raps who wrote the foreword for Do Remember! recently took some time out to share his personal memories of the Most Crew with us. Listen to the exclusive audio below, which breaks down the Most Crew brothers Al and Vic Most’s history and what made them so special to mixtape heads like Fab, and he also speaks about their tragic deaths.
Fab 5 Freddy Remembers the Most Crew
Okay, now to the tape. Most Crew 43 is jammed with hip-hop classics from ‘92, including everything from “They Want EFX” to “T.R.O.Y.” to “DWYCK” to the “Scenario (Remix),” all flawlessly mixed by DJ Paulie Cee and hyped up with Most Crew mic work. This ain’t no pause tape—this is the epitome of a NYC ‘90s hip-hop mixtape, sprinkled with R&B and reggae flavor, and cut together to create a listening experience that’s made for cruising the city streets in Benzes and Jeeps.
Special thanks to the one and only Fab 5 Freddy and our boy Bahr Brown who also appears inside the pages of Do Remember! for the history lesson and the audio/visual hook-up.
RIP Al and Vic Most.
