DJ Whoo Kid - The Kid With The Golden Arm Part 2
A mixtape from 2000 featuring some serious exclusives.
Whooooooo Kiiiiiid!! Yes, the DJ who is best known for his affiliation with G-Unit and the groundbreaking mixtape series that propelled 50 Cent and his crew to rap superstardom was deep in the game well before their legendary run together.
And inside the pages of Do Remember! we dig into Whoo Kid’s beginnings, including his come-up in Queens around fellow mixtape DJs like Clue and Envy, his tricks to obtaining exclusive songs, working with Stretch Armstrong on their unforgettable Murda Mixtape series, and yes, the unbelievable story of the time Big Pun kidnapped him.
Ahh fuck it, here it is for those of you who still don’t have the book. Zoom to read.
Now to the tape, or should we say, CD (check the book for more on the turn-of-the-century technology shift). The Kid With The Golden Arm Part 2 dropped in 2000 ahead of the release of Prodigy’s first solo LP H.N.I.C., and it’s littered with songs from the album. And for folks like us who were big Prodigy fans, this was a real treat—which is why it’s fitting that we post this today as we celebrate Pee’s life on the anniversary of his passing.
But beyond the Prodigy exclusives, this mixtape had plenty more ill shit to offer. Check the tracklist:
One of our favorite mixtape exclusives of all-time is on here—a Nas song labeled “Blood (New Version),” which is actually the It Was Written album cut “Take It In Blood” with never-before-heard rhymes on it. Shit like this is the reason why we still love this mixtape shit to this day. Where else could you have possibly heard this?! Mega props to Whoo Kid for unearthing this gem.

Want more? Well, besides two exclusive Eminem freestyles, you’ve got new music by all the hot artists of the time from Beanie Sigel to Busta Rhymes, including songs that are now certified classics like the “Ante Up (Remix).”
